What it is
Riverline is a live conditions platform for fly fishing the Northern Rockies — real-time streamflow, water temperature, snowpack, weather, hatch forecasts, and an AI guide across 16 rivers in Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, and Canada. It's public, it's paid, and it's running right now.
It exists because the information an angler needs before a trip is scattered across a federal gauge site, a weather service, a snowpack database, and a shop report someone updates when they remember to. Riverline pulls all of it hourly, scores it, and explains it.
This is the one on the list that isn't a concept. Design, frontend, backend, data pipeline, AI layer, auth, email, billing, and deployment — all of it. If you want to know what we can actually build, this is the honest answer.

Answer the question in one screen
Every fishing site makes you dig — a gauge here, a forecast there, a shop report from last Thursday. Riverline puts flow, water temp, snowpack, and a single fishability score above the fold for whichever river you pick, because the actual question is "should I go tomorrow," and it deserves one answer, not four tabs.
Score it, then show your work
A 0–100 fishability score is only useful if you can see why. Each score expands into the flow trend, water clarity estimate, and hatch window that produced it — so an experienced angler can disagree with the number and still get value from the inputs.
Give the AI a real knowledge base
The Riverline Guide isn't a chatbot bolted onto a weather page. It's retrieval over an embedded corpus of historical outfitter reports, hatch charts, and fly patterns for these specific rivers, joined to today's live conditions — so it answers "what should I throw on the Madison this week" with something a guide would say.
Engineer the cost curve before launch, not after
Conditions are fetched once by a scheduled worker and cached in KV; LLM responses memoize for six hours; a Durable Object rate-limits abuse. AI spend stays roughly flat as traffic grows instead of scaling linearly with it — which is the difference between a product and an expensive hobby.
Under the hood
- Frontend
- Vite + vanilla JS, deployed on Cloudflare Pages
- Backend
- Pages Functions, a scheduled Cloudflare Worker, KV cache, Durable Object rate limiter
- Data
- USGS streamflow, NOAA weather, NRCS snowpack — refreshed hourly, 16 rivers
- AI
- Retrieval over embedded outfitter reports + hatch data, with 6-hour response memoization
- Accounts
- Supabase auth with magic links, saved rivers, transactional email via Resend
- Business
- Free conditions dashboard · $9/mo premium for the trip planner and guide
